How we actually test offline games

May 16, 2026 · Markus Hoffmann

People ask how we rate games, so here's the honest version. Every title goes on at least two phones, one new and one deliberately old and slow.

First thing we do is flip on airplane mode and see what breaks. You'd be surprised how many 'offline' games secretly beg for a connection on the main menu.

Then we just play. We track how long the core loop stays fun, whether the controls hold up, and if anything nags us for attention it shouldn't.

Only after we've put in real hours does a game get a rating. If we didn't finish enough to form an opinion, we don't publish.
